A Novel

Now available

Faith. Family. A place to belong. Leila’s Light explores Deaf culture, identity, and the search for purpose.

At its heart are questions that reach beyond the page: Where do we find connection? And how do we discover a path that feels like our own?

Meet Regina.

Dr. Regina Daniels

The author behind Leila’s Light
and Silent Strength.

Dr. Regina Daniels is a Deaf author, educator, and interpreter whose stories celebrate faith, family, Deaf culture, and the courage to be seen in your own language.

She grew up in a Deaf family in New Orleans, where sign language was the language of home, and graduated from the Louisiana School for the Deaf. She went on to study at Gallaudet University and earned a B.A. in Dance from the University of Maryland, College Park, an M.A. in Performance Arts Management from Columbia College Chicago, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.

Today she is a Professor and Program Lead in the Carlstrom ASL Interpreting Program at North Central University in Minneapolis. She also works as a Deaf Interpreter and mentors interpreters across the country.

Her first book, Silent Strength: A Black Deaf Woman's Quest for Knowledge, is a memoir of faith and perseverance.

Her debut novel, Leila's Light, tells the story of a Deaf woman who was told her language would ruin her future and instead used it to light the way for others. She is now writing her next novel, The Language Between Us.

When she is not teaching or writing, you can find her dancing, spending time with family, or signing over a good matcha.
